古海電脳棺

以前、コンゴでゲリラ兵に話を聞いたことがあった。
戦争で捕虜として捕えられたゲリラ兵に塀の中で話を聞いたのだ。
そのゲリラ兵は、僕が日本人だと名乗ると、「日本製は素晴らしい」と言った。
何が素晴らしいのかと尋ねてみると、車が素晴らしいと思う。よく言われることなので、とりあえず「ありがとう」と答えておいた。
すると、その兵士はニッと笑ってこう言った。

「日本車じゃないと、人間をすりつぶせないのだ」と。

耳を疑った。どういうことだろうか？
詳しく尋ねると、こう言うのである。

「人を殺す時に、できるだけ銃を使いたくない。弾がもったいないから。そのため、ナイフで殺すのだが、やっているこっちが気持ち悪い。そこでよくつかまえた人間を車で轢いて殺した。何度も何度も轢いて粉々にするのだ。しかし、韓国製の安い車だと人間が絡まってすぐに動かなくなってしまう。その点、日本製の車は何度轢いても、タイヤに人間の破片が挟まっても、ちゃんと動くから問題ないのだ。それ以来、人間を轢いて殺す時は『トヨタをやろう』というのが合言葉になった」
