議論をする上で注意が必要なのは、「ベーシックインカムで働かなくなるような者は、どうせ稼ぐ能力がない奴なので、そんな奴が働かなくても、何ら痛手ではない」といった暴言を吐かないことだ（一面の真理ではあるが、我慢せよ）。
時には稼ぐだけではなくて、別のことをして暮らす選択肢を社会が支える、いわば社会が作る「余裕」を形にしたものがベーシックインカムだ。働かない人にも優しくすべきだし、「働かざる者、食うべからず」的な強制を言うべきではない（「働かない者は、死ね」とは言わない方がいい）。
